Transfer stock
A transfer moves stock without buying or selling it: from one warehouse to another, or from one location to another inside the same warehouse. You prepare it as a draft, then post it, and the stock moves at the cost it already carries.
Move stock between warehouses
Section titled “Move stock between warehouses”- Go to Inventory ‣ Stock control ‣ Transfers and click New transfer.
- Pick the Warehouse the goods leave, and the To warehouse they arrive in.
- On the Lines tab, click Add line, pick the Item / description and enter the Qty in the UOM shown.
- Pick a From bin to take the goods from a set location, or leave it empty to take them from the location holding the most.
- Pick a To bin, or leave it empty to put the goods in the receiving warehouse’s first standard location.
- Click Save draft.
The transfer is saved as Draft: nothing has moved yet. Drafts wait under Needs attention on the workspace.
Move stock between locations
Section titled “Move stock between locations”To put stock away or tidy a warehouse, move it from one location to another in the same warehouse.
- Click New transfer and pick the Warehouse. Leave To warehouse empty.
- Add a line for each item, and pick both its From bin and its To bin.
- Click Save draft.
Post a transfer
Section titled “Post a transfer”- Open the draft transfer.
- Click Post, then confirm in the dialog.
The transfer shows Posted. The stock has left the first warehouse or location and arrived in the second, in one step. Between two warehouses, a journal entry moves the stock’s value from one to the other.
Void a transfer
Section titled “Void a transfer”Open the transfer and click Void, then confirm. A draft is dropped without moving anything. A posted transfer is reversed: the stock moves back to where it came from.
Messages you may meet
Section titled “Messages you may meet”| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| A transfer states where the goods land: a receiving warehouse, or a destination bin per line. | Pick a To warehouse, or a To bin on every line. |
| The source and destination bins are the same, so the line moves nothing. | Pick a different To bin. |
| This issue would drive on-hand stock negative, which this warehouse does not allow. | Lower Qty to what the warehouse holds. |
| A movement moves something, so it needs at least one line. | Add a line before saving. |
