Sell at the till
The till is where a cashier serves a customer at the counter: build the cart, take payment, and hand over the receipt. Open it from Point of sale ‣ Point of sale on an enrolled browser. If no shift is open on the register, open one first.
The header shows the terminal, register and warehouse you are selling from, and your name.
Ring up a sale
Section titled “Ring up a sale”- Find the items: type part of an item’s name or code in the search box, or tap a category under it. All shows every item.
- Tap an item to add it to the Order summary. Tap it again to add one more.
- Change the quantity with the plus and minus buttons, or remove a line. For a kit, click Change choices (the sliders icon) to swap its parts.
- Pick the Customer. If you pick none, the sale goes to the walk-in customer.
- Check the Total. Prices and tax come from the server for the customer you picked, and update on every change.
- Click Cash or Card to take payment. The sale completes straight away.
The Payment complete dialog shows the invoice number, the Method and the Total paid. Click Print receipt to print the 80mm receipt through the browser’s print dialog, or New transaction to clear the cart for the next customer.
The sale is now a posted customer invoice in Receivables, the items have left the register’s warehouse, and the payment sits in the drawer account or the card account. A cash sale adds to the cash the drawer is expected to hold at the end of the shift.
Only items marked Sold in Inventory appear on the till.
Give a discount
Section titled “Give a discount”A cashier allowed to give manual discounts sees Add discount under the total.
- Click Add discount.
- Enter the Order discount %. The total updates with a Discount line.
A discount above the cashier’s Maximum manual discount (%) is refused, so the cashier cannot take payment until it is lowered. To drop the discount, click the cross beside the field.
Hold a cart and come back to it
Section titled “Hold a cart and come back to it”When a customer steps away to fetch something, hold their cart and serve the next person.
- Click Hold.
- Enter a Note to find the cart by, such as the customer’s name, then click Hold in the dialog.
- Serve the next customer.
- When the first customer is back, finish or hold the current cart, click Held carts, and click Recall on their cart.
The cart comes back with its items, customer and discount, priced again. Any till on the same register can recall it.
Print a receipt again
Section titled “Print a receipt again”The till prints a receipt only from the Payment complete dialog. To give a customer a copy later, open the sale’s invoice in Receivables and print it.
Take goods back
Section titled “Take goods back”The till has no returns. When a customer brings goods back, raise a credit note against the sale’s invoice in Receivables: see Credit an invoice. When it posts, the goods come back into the warehouse it names.
