Point of sale
Point of sale is the till for selling over the counter. It runs in the browser of a device you enroll, sells from a register’s warehouse, and posts every paid sale to stock and the books at once.
How it fits together
Section titled “How it fits together”| Part | What it is |
|---|---|
| Till settings | One set per company: the walk-in customer, the card and drawer accounts, and how shifts close. |
| Register | A point of sale. It sells from one warehouse, and its cash goes into one drawer account. |
| Terminal | A device that sells on a register. Only a browser you enroll as the terminal’s device can ring up a sale. |
| Cashier | A user who may sell on a register, with their own discount limit. |
| Shift | A cashier’s session on a register, from the opening float to the approved count. |
| Held carts | Carts set aside during a shift, to finish later on any till of the same register. |
What a sale creates
Section titled “What a sale creates”When you click Cash or Card, Axon Suite does the rest in one step:
- A customer invoice is created and posted, priced by the server for the customer on the sale.
- The items leave the register’s warehouse.
- The invoice’s journal entry posts to the books.
- A payment is recorded against the invoice: into the register’s drawer account for cash, or into the card account for card.
- When e-invoicing is set up, the receipt carries the e-invoice QR code.
If any part fails, nothing is kept: no invoice, no stock movement and no payment.
What a shift creates
Section titled “What a shift creates”- Opening a shift, when the float goes back to the main drawer at the end of each shift, raises a draft journal that moves the float from the main drawer to the register’s drawer.
- Approving a shift’s count raises a draft journal that moves the counted cash to the main drawer and books any difference to the cash over/short account.
Both journals wait in Finance as drafts for someone to post.
